African Seedling is a series stemming from the life experiences of many African children.
The title of this powerful story is a call for knowledge and understanding of an African child’s birthright together with all its’ potential and possibility.

The definition of a child as a seed feeds into his ideology that states that the people of a land should be the owners of that land.
Africa continues to be the world’s richest continent with all the natural resources being mined and sold to profit everyone but those who deserve it.
Without land, a seed cannot be planted, therefore ailing its’ nourishment and growth.

The 2-piece artwork shows a life journey from the birth and the survival of a black child in Africa. Both pieces stand on either side of the scale to compare the ideal from the current situation.

The pear womb illustration piece represents the ideal truth of an African child.
The artworks’ colour scheme carries the bulk of the message where the gold pear stands as a vessel of wealth that the African child should be born from. The green background represents the growth and the limitless land bearing that seed.

The Africa strain piece is a piercing truth of the current state of life of an African child.
Hunger, poverty, inadequate education and racial tensions are part of their daily bread. An unavoidable strain, considering all they have to deal with on a daily basis. This is an infected strain in the form of the map of Africa.
